Snow Update: Resorts are Opening Early!

Snow Update: Resorts are Opening Early! It’s been an amazing week for snowfall and it’s about to get even better! With an impressive base of snow already produced in some resorts, ski areas in Europe have already decided to open – up to 3 weeks early!

After a further 6cm of snow last weekend Alpe d’Huez is to open its glacier for skiing and snowboarding this weekend, then every weekend until the resort’s official opening on the 6th December.

Tignes is building up a fantastic base with nearly 2m up top and 30cm below with a dusting of new snow predicted this weekend.

Up to 41cm is forecasted in the Pyrenees area this weekend, with Formigueres and Les Angles getting the best of the snow.

With the great early season snowfall in Austria already this season, Kitzbuhel opened the Pass Thurn Gondola today and will be open to the public at the weekends. Obergurgl will open a further 8 lifts on Saturday and snow is forecast in 56 resorts over the next few days.

Even more resorts are celebrating opening day in Switzerland this weekend, both Davos and Engelberg will open their lifts to skiers and snowboarders, and Verbier will be opening again this weekend.

Just 3 weeks to go...
