So March Snow

So March Snow

There's so much snow arriving this week, the powder hounds will be lapping it up for days. With the immense base, the consistently cold temperatures and the regular snowfall, there are hidden pockets of powder to be found for days after the last snow fall.

This week sees up to half a metre of fresh powder coming, with France and Italy boasting the best snow, Switzerland with pockets of pow and a good quality dusting hitting the Austrian slopes. We always say March is the best time to ski or snowboard, with the snow and sunshine this winter is definitely showing why.

France is having another awesome week of snow with around 30cm of fresh powder falling across the Tarantaise Valley as well as the popular Oisans resorts of Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes — which is boasting a whopping 46cm of snow!

  • Alpe d'Huez 39cm
  • Courchevel 22cm
  • La Plagne 28cm
  • La Rosiere 26cm
  • Les Arcs 29cm
  • Les Deux Alpes 46cm
  • Meribel 25cm
  • Tignes 39cm
  • Val d'Isere 39cm
  • Val Thorens 33cm

Italy is also in for a cracking week of March powder. Prato Nevoso is continuing on from a great weekend of snow with a massive 49cm forecast, while the popular Dolomites and Milky Way resorts are all expecting around 30m of snow too.

  • Arabba 22cm
  • Bardonecchia 34cm
  • Cervinia 37cm
  • Claviere 37cm
  • Courmayeur 22cm
  • Prato Nevoso 49cm
  • Pragelato 31cm
  • Sauze d'Oulx 34cm
  • Selva 11cm
  • Sestriere 35cm

Switzerland is set for a mixed weekend of snow. Resorts on the border of France and Italy are expecting around 20-40cm of powder, with Zermatt boasting the best conditions, while resorts closer to Austria are forecast 5-10cm of snow.

  • Crans Montana 16cm
  • Davos 6cm
  • Engelberg 14cm
  • Flims Laax 6cm
  • Klosters 5cm
  • Saas Fee 37cm
  • St. Moritz 12cm
  • Verbier 22cm
  • Wengen 12cm
  • Zermatt 40cm

Austria is expecting a thick dusting over the next week, though the resorts won't be boasting the powder of neighbouring countries, snowfall from 5-20cm will still make for great conditions and perfect pistes — with the added bonus of more sunshine than France and Italy.

  • Alpbach 6cm
  • Ischgl 13cm
  • Kitzbuhel 6cm
  • Lech 8cm
  • Mayrhofen 6cm
  • Obergurgl 13cm
  • Saalbach 6cm
  • Solden 17cm
  • St. Anton 12cm
  • Zell am See 6cm

The Alps are having an epic winter for snowfall, and with the temperatures remaining cold when the sun does come out, the slopes are incredible this season.
