Aksel Lund Svindal won the overall Alpine World Cup title on Sunday in a final that thrilled sports lovers on
ski holidays in Lenzerheide.
Svindal, who needed to be in the top 15 to score in the final, only just made the grade.
"I was so nervous....when I was only fifth on the leaderboard after my run I thought I would lose it...but then I found out that I was in the top 15 and I couldn't believe it," the Norwegian champ told Eurosport.
He took the title from Benjamin Raich, who nevertheless claimed the World Cup slalom title in a thrilling race against Mario Matt.
Finishing almost a second ahead of Austria's Matt, Raich captivated spectators against the Swiss resort's stunning setting.
