Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway has clinched the overall World Cup title for the second time in his career.
He won the prize by two points after his last remaining rival, Austrian Benjamin Raich, crashed out of the competition on the first leg of the final run.
Svindal said he was not entirely happy about winning the World Cup by just a couple of points at the end of the season, reports the AFP.
"I was struggling a bit before Christmas, but got back on track at Kitzbuhel and the world championships were great with my two medals," he commented.
He described Beaver Creek, where he was victorious last year in a downhill World Cup race, as a highlight of the racing season.
Svindal made his first World Cup start in 2001 and achieved his first World Cup podium place two years later, according to fis-ski.com.
