Team GB cross country skiers post strong performance

Team GB cross country skiers post strong performance Team GB's trio of teenage cross-country skiers brought a new spirit to the Vancouver Winter Olympics after making their Games debuts with impressive performances in the men's 15km cross-country freestyle.

Andrew Musgrave, a 19-year-old skier from Aberdeenshire, posted a strong performance after crossing the line in 55th place with a time of 36 minutes 32.4 seconds, making him the highest-placed British skier.

"My form hasn't been that good coming into the Olympics but it did feel a little bit better out there," said the skier.

His 17 year-old compatriot Andrew Young, who also comes from Aberdeenshire, finished 74th with a time of 38 minutes 45.1 seconds, in the event, which featured a field of 95 competitors.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Fiona Hughes from Huddersfield finished 68th in a time of 30 minutes 29.8 seconds in the women's 10km freestyle, which is her only event at the games.

Some 52 British athletes from six sports and 11 disciplines are taking part in the Olympics, which are being staged in Vancouver and Whistler.
