As November approaches so does more snow, which can only be good news with resorts opening in less than three weeks!
France is having another good start to the month, with 23cm forecast in Val d'Isere and 19cm expected in Les Deux Alpes and Tignes. Alpe d'Huez is boasting a forecast of nearly 30cm by the end of the week and the Three Valleys resorts of Val Thorens and Courchevel are also due a dusting of 24cm and 12cm respectively. Les Arcs and La Plagne should also see similar snowfall toward the end of the week.
Switzerland, and the neighbouring Italian resort of Cervinia, is where the main action is happening, with up to half a metre forecast by the end of the week. Saas Fee's upper slopes will be boasting almost 55cm of powder by Saturday, with Zermatt getting similar snowfall of 53cm. The Graubünden region's resorts of St. Moritz, Flims Laax and Davos Klosters will also get a light dusting of fresh snow.
The aforementioned Italian resort of Cervinia is benefitting from the Matterhorn's height and glacier with 41cm forecast over the week. The resorts of Passo Tonale and Bardonecchia are expecting 20cm and 27cm respectively over the coming days.
Heading out to North America, it wouldn't be a normal week if we didn't have any snow in Whistler, going by the last 12 months and, of course, Mother Nature has humoured us with another 47cm of British Columbia white powder this week. There is also some good snowfall in Colorado, with Aspen, Beaver Creek and Vail all forecast around 20cm of fresh snow.
So, as winter fast approaches, it is a pleasant relief to see the snow is attempting to make a strong return this year. Fingers crossed Europe can follow on from where Canada left off last year with metres and metres of fresh snow falling on a regular basis, otherwise I might not make it through the winter!
