It could be time to get booking North America ski holidays for the 2007-08 ski season, after it was revealed that a number of Vail ski lifts opened for action this weekend.

On Saturday December 8th 2007, the Blue Sky Basin in Vail and parts of the Back Bowls ski area were opened for skiing with over 3,500 acres of skiable terrain accessible.

Lifts opened included High Noon, Riva Bahn Express, New Highline Express, New Sourdough Express, Cascade, Orient Express, Teacup Express, Skyline Express and Pete's Express.

"The Highline Express Lift, also known as Chair 10, will offer bump enthusiasts a full day of skiing and riding before lunchtime thanks to a new ride time of approximately seven minutes," the ski resort revealed.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was scheduled to be held on Saturday morning to celebrate the lift's inauguration.

Vail comprises three areas including four terrain parks and seven bowls and is popular for North America ski holidays.
