Over 1,000 volunteers have already put their names forward to help ensure that the
Whistler course is in optimum condition for the skiing events making up the 2010 Winter Olympics, morethanthegames reports.
Further snow is expected in Vancouver ahead of the men's downhill taking place on February 13th, which may lead to inconsistent patches on the piste for competitors.
However, Vancouver 2010 workforce vice-president Dick Vollet insists measures have already been put in place to ensure conditions are at their best come the event's start.
According to the news provider, he said: "Right now, the course is in perfect condition to race.
"The forecast is for some snow but we have 1,200 volunteers ready to do what we have to do and they will work through the night to remove any new snow if they have to. We are all very hopeful of a fantastic event on Saturday."
Other medal events to take place on February 13th include the ladies' moguls final, the men's 5,000m speed skating discipline and the women's 7.5km sprint biathlon challenge.
