Val d'Isere may this week have witnessed American Downhill specialist Lindsey Vonn collect her second gold medal of the World Ski Championships.
Vonn added to her success in the Super G to claim gold in what was a closely fought Downhill race.
She fought off an impressive second-placed Lara Gut and Italy's Nadia Fanchini to emerge victorious in an event that was a priority for the American star.
"My goal was to win the world Downhill and I'm thrilled of pulling through despite the hard conditions. Today was a dream come true for me," she said.
The young Swiss skier Gut revealed that she had been troubled with stomach pains, but said it was "fantastic" to take home a second silver.
Vonn, who has now collected four world medals in two years, revealed in a press conference that her husband had been a particular inspiration, helping to calm and focus her before the start of race.
