Lindsey Vonn was quick to praise the conditions in
Val D'Isere after registering the quickest time during training for the World Cup downhill event.
The 25-year-old American arrived in France after a disappointing performance in the previous World Cup stop in Sweden, where she struggled in the slalom and giant slalom technical events.
However, with her preference being for the speed runs, it was expected that Vonn would perform strongly in France.
Meanwhile, she is going to attempt to carry out the monstrous feat of triumphing in all three events over the weekend, with the downhill separating the super combined and the super G.
According to the Associated Press, she said: "It's something that has never been done and it definitely would be great. The conditions out there are great.
"But I don't expect to do it in Val D'Isere. It's really difficult to win the super combined and everything can happen in downhill and super G."
Vonn claimed downhill and super G gold medals at the 2009 World Championships, which were also held at Val D'Isere.
