New snowmaking

Avoriaz has one of the best snow records in the Alps, with an average of 8 metres of snow each season. To be able to produce a better base layer at the start of the season, Avoriaz has an extensive network of 220 snowmakers covering 64 hectares. This ensures better retention and stability of the snowpark.

For this season the snow network has been extended to include the blue Abricotine piste (1.5km), the blue Fornet piste (0.5km) and full access around the resort centre.

New kids fun zone

This winter, Avoriaz is launching a new freestyle area aimed at children and a 3-year development plan for a ‘Lil’ Stash.

The Stash is an iconic freestyle course running through the forest in Avoriaz. Burton Snowboards and the resort are developing a dedicated junior Stash from children aged 6-14 with age specific features, layout and décor. This will be located in the Proclou sector and will feature a mini boarder cross, a snake run, slides, fun boxes and more.

New snowboard school

Local and professional snowboarder Johann Baisamy has retired from international competition to open his own snowboard school. Avoriaz prides itself on being the best resort for snowboarders in Europe with around 20% of their winter visitors being boarders.

New at ESF Avoriaz

The Ecole du Ski François in Avoriaz have a couple new features for winter 2016/17 including introductory snowboarding lessons from the age of 4 at the Burton Riglet Park on Place Jean Vuarnet and group lessons on Saturday mornings for 17 & 18 years olds studying the ski options on their baccalaureate.

Snowboxx festival

With Basement Jaxx headlining, Snowboxx festival brings the party to Avoriaz along with a week of music and fun. Over 5000 people are expected to come along to join in with the apres ski parties, igloo sessions, feast on the piste and more alongside the daily gigs from huge artists.
