Whistler counts down to November opening

Whistler counts down to November opening The wait is nearly over for a winter 2007 ski holiday in Whistler, as the resort moves closer to its opening date of November 22nd.

Furthermore, the 2007-08 ski season is set to be an exciting one for people on ski holidays in Whistler as work on the Peak to Peak gondola is currently underway and the lift is due to open in 2008.

The region is also preparing for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with Whistler being the venue for the Olympic and Paralympic alpine skiing downhill, Super-G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Super Combined races.

Other activities in the area set to impact positively on travellers enjoying ski holidays in Whistler include new water treatment plants at Glacier Creek and Crystal Hut and a Children's Learning Centre on Whistler Mountain for those on family ski holidays.

"With the landmark Peak to Peak project underway, the return of the popular Symphony Amphitheatre and a host of other on-mountain improvements, this winter promises to be one of the most exciting yet," commented Whistler Blackcomb's Chief Operating Officer Dave Brownlie.
