Christmas week is finally here and whether you made it to the Alps over the weekend or are heading out over the coming days you are in for some superb festive skiing. There is yet again a massive amount of snow forecast over the next six days making for a more than likely white Christmas in the mountains.
If chocolate box charm and perfectly groomed pistes are your thing then no doubt Switzerland is where you're heading and with 80cm of snow falling in Saas Fee and Zermatt you are in for a Christmas treat. Crans Montana, Murren, Verbier and St. Moritz will also have that winter wonderland feel after a 40cm top up this week.
Italy's calmer slopes and captive cafes will be adding to their already romantic setting with snow topped roofs and trees. Gressoney, Cervinia and Champoluc are all expecting upwards of 70cm of fresh snow with Passo Tonale, Corvara and Selva all looking forward to a half metre top up.
If you're heading out to France this week you won't be disappointed, the off-piste madness in La Grave is expecting 48cm of powder, on top of two weeks of great snow, Alpe d'Huez is once again expecting nearly half a metre of snow and the Brit favourites of the Tarantaise Valley (Three Valley, Espace Killy and Paradiski) are all forecast a decent 30cm+ dusting.
For those heading further a field to get their early winter fix, North America is looking awesome at the moment. Whistler is again, yes again, forecast more than 1 metre of BC pow, Colorado is under a blanket of snow with Aspen, Steamboat and Crested Butte boasting snowfall of 74cm, 69cm & 61cm respectively.
Rounding off the snow news, the Austrian resorts of Ischgl, Lech and St. Anton can are all expecting around 20cm of snow, Spain's Formigal is forecast a similar 20cm and Andorra's trilogy of Pas de la Casa, Arinsal and Soldeu el Tarter are forecast a light dusting over Christmas. Merry Christmas,
The Snowman
