With a shortlist you can:
Norway’s challenge to the French Alps.
Hemsedal is Norway’s very own expert’s paradise. Only an hour away from Geilo it is this year celebrating 40 years as Norway’s favourite resort. The village itself lies at an altitude of 800m and the local climate, much like it’s sister resort Geilo, makes for extremely snow-sure pistes.
Fast lifts and little queuing make this a great resort for all levels on ski holidays in Hemsdal. Beginners will find plenty of nursery slopes and an excellent english speaking ski school. There are also several long and unchallenging green runs to improve on. For intermediates there are a variety of challenges with long reds ideal for cruising at high speeds ruling the 810m vertical. The expert terrain is well laid out with a variety of some of the most difficult blacks in Norway along with ample opportunity for powder rich off piste skiing.
Snowboarding took off early in Norway and on your ski holidays in Hemsdal you cna find one of Europe’s best snowboard parks. Measuring in at just over 600m it contains a quarter pipe, several half pipes, a big jump, a fun boxer and various other amusements for the board bound. Snowboarders will also be able to get around much of the pistes using chair lifts.
The village itself is small and not very active during the week. Ski Holidays in Hemsedal is very much for serious skiers and snowboarders. While there are several bars and apres ski facilities to take advantage of, they are quite subdued until the weekend.
