Snow Conditions in Norway (16 April 2015)
With most of our featured Norwegian resorts set to remain open well into April and for some May (Hemsedal), there is still some good skiing to be had this winter. For the best conditions stick to the upper slopes, although recent cooler weather has led to some firm upper pistes in resorts such as Hemsedal (90/90cm) and Trysil (142/142cm). Lillehammer (20/150cm) retains some great spring conditions owing to its slightly warmer climate, although only three of the city’s five ski areas remain open. Mostly sunny and milder weather is forecast for the weekend ahead so expect the spring snow conditions to return.
Are (71/71cm) in Sweden has caught a lot of fresh snow this week on the upper mountain, with 21cm falling in the past three days alone. Some nice fresh turns have been reported up high, but sadly lower down much of this has fallen as rain or sleet. Salen (60/80cm) has remained dry, with spring conditions reported on the slopes. Are is forecast more unsettled weather with light snowfall possible, whereas Salen is expected to remain dry but mostly cloudy.
