Overall

We stayed as 3 couples for a week in January 2016. Location is literally 50m from chair lift. No wait for chair in morning and ski back to door. Chalet is warm and cosy, clean and functional. One couple stayed in room 7 which was very small. Other rooms adequate and clean but basic. Room 8 has a small bath which is not one thing or the other. A shower would be better..food was excellent, freshly prepared. A mid week laundry/ towel change would have been appreciated but wasn't offered. Chalet was managed by ski beat and our hosts were welcoming and accommodating. Airport transfer was 3 hours but efficient as loaded quickly onto coaches and away. We did the Bob sleigh run organised by ski beat which was great fun at the end of a busy holiday. Ski area is vast and we were lucky to have sunshine everyday. La plagne is a lovely resort and although France has reputation for being expensive we were pleasantly surprised as although not cheap on mountain portions and food quality was good. A fantastic resort for intermediate skiers and a full area lift pass is beneficial to make the most of the entire ski area. Overall the acid test is would we recommend and return- definitely.

Good value, well located chalet - 19/01/2014
Overall

We stayed in mid January 2014 and had a really good week. The chalet's a solid option, it's not luxury, but has everything you need to enjoy a week exploring La Plagne. Our hosts, despite being trainees, did a very good job welcoming us and were friendly, chatty and helpful during the week. The food was reasonable and kept us fuelled up for a very active week; bedrooms weren't huge but OK; lounge and dining area was nice, and the best thing, really close to the lifts and two pistes to ski back home on! Oh, and the sauna was a good ticket to ease tired muscles. We were in the chalet with a selection of small groups who really clicked and the atmosphere was friendly throughout the trip. We didn't explore Apres options much - too tired from first-to-last-lift skiing - but there seemed to be a few decent places to get drinks if that's your thing. For the price, I'd heartily recommend Bartavelle. La Plagne is a very good resort for intermediates and fresh snow during our stay opened up good off-piste exploring potential (nothing too dangerous of course!).
