Amazing Service - 21/02/2022
Overall

I phoned about two weeks before half term to try and book a ski holiday to Austria…and ended up booking Meribel after being so carefully guided by the travel consultant. There was little availability in the large Austrian resorts to suit my budget, so he looked at other options for me. He suggested Meribel and was able to use his own knowledge of working there in the past to sell me the holiday in an honest way. He really grasped what we needed (not far from the lifts as we had children), and gave me the confidence to book - without doing further research. I trusted him and I am so glad I did. The hotel location was fantastic. Whilst on face value the hotel appeared basic and in need of a facelift, it was very clean and comfortable. The food was great, the wine better (and the Prosecco and canapés were a bonus each evening). The staff were so kind and helpful and did not stress when the children (who all made friends) ran riot in the hotel whilst the parents ate dinner! Separate rooms for boots and skis were a great idea as it stopped boot rooms from being clogged up in the mornings. Skiing in the 3 Valleys offered so much choice and variety - a new favourite place to ski! Brilliant service from Iglu - thank you.

Great location and great staff. - 02/03/2020
Overall

This hotel is extremely well located right across the road from the main lifts/meeting area in Meribel - only a few minutes walk. The hotel has a handy ski and boot store (with warmers) so you don't need to take anything back to your room. The rooms are small and a bit basic but they are very clean and the bathroom/shower is pretty good. The bed was comfy too. The staff here are excellent and more than make up for the fact that the hotel/décor is a little tired. The food was really good, tasty, hearty with a new choice each evening. Breakfasts also good and the tea/coffee and cakes/biscuits/soup/snacks available in the afternoon were great. The wine with dinner was also of good quality. Jacks bar (attached to the hotel) seems to be the main apres-ski location at the end of the day with live bands, but we never had a problem with noise into the night as music shuts down by 8pm. All in all we had a great stay - good value for money in the heart of Meribel.

Excellent - 04/03/2019

It’s attached to a very popular apres ski bar called Meribar, which has excellent entertainment after a good days skiing. You get approx 2euros discount on every drink at the bar, which adds up to great saving over a week. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable. The food was amazing and plenty of it and plenty of wine to wash it down. The chalet workers workers were extremely helpful in every way. The hotel/chalet is located approx 30 metres from the slope and 100 metres from Rhodos gondola. So location is fantastic, and meribel is perfectly located if you want to explore the three valleys. Booking was easy from the start, I was dealing with someone called Alice who was very patient and helpful. Transfer to and from resort was easy too.

Fun week in the snow - 28/01/2019
Overall

Just returned from a week on the slopes, very enjoyable. Chalet location is its biggest selling point, right on the Chaudanne with a 30-second walk to most lifts, and right above The Meribar which has very lively Apres Ski at least 3 nights a week, bonus reduced beer prices for residents! Comfortable quiet room, newly refurbished bathroom nice, rooms comfortable if a little small (minor issue as just for sleeping) Food was varied and of good quality. Good varied choice of wines with dinner. Breakfasts were excellent buffet style full English plus pastries cereals etc. Have not been with the tour operator before but they seemed well organised and helpful even reprinting my train tickets that I had lost on the way to resort

Travel ! Ugh ! We went out over New Year and were caught up in the travel debacle ! Both ways. We were 'lucky' in the we only spent 12 hours on a bus for a 2 1/2 hour transfer. Geneva to Meribel. Many spent the night out, some two ! We got to resort at midnight mostly thanks to a brilliant coach driver that took us off through the lanes and villages to by pass the mega jam on the main roads. Airports such as Geneva and Chambray are just not fit for purpose. Totally overwhelmed with ridiculous queues. We will not be flying out next time ! There are other ways. Up side we got the snow just in time for New Year so Meribel was white and skiing pretty good but icy towards the end. Hotel Grangette is ideal for ski slope access and après ski with views over the area and an easy walk. Almost ski to door ! With all the benefits of being 'in town' so close to all facilities. Hotel staff were great. Very helpful, knowledgeable, pleasant, happy and efficient. Food and service good. The building needs attention though. Our bath room had mould on the ceiling and fan did not work. In excusable at this point in the season ! Boot / ski room very tired and shabby and locks worn out. Again inexcusable at this time of the season. Should have been sorted out. Spoilt an otherwise good stay.
