Second year running, best yet - 13/04/2015
Overall

Stayed in Lores for the 13/14 season with group of mates and was delighted to see a last minute deal become available for this winter. Given last year was such a success had no quarms with booking up straight away. Lores is a small but well formed chalet, with a certain rustic charm. Don't expect great luxury but given the price it is very warm and comfortable. The food was even better than last year and the staff were more than helpful despite it being the end of the season! Planning on going elsewhere for 2015/16 but would definitely recommend Lores for groups of friends or singles looking to have a great time on a standard budget. As for Val d'Isere its obviously up there with the best, Apre is legendary (foli & Cocos) and their are numerous bars (saloon, Morris, Petit Danois and clubs (dicks, dadoon) available with tastes to serve every pallet. Overall would fully recommend Ski world, Valdi and Lores.

Quirky and friendly but Chalet Lores needs some TLC - 01/04/2015
Overall

My daughter and I enjoyed our week in Val d'Isere, staying at Chalet Lores, which lives up to its claimed '70s quirky feel. The week we stayed the chalet was full. Pros: - The skiing was varied and enjoyable, helped by a good fall of snow over the first few days of the holiday. - Chalet Lores is well positioned, close to the old town centre and with stops for the shuttle bus just outside. - We bought the holiday as a discounted last minute deal and at that price felt we got value for money. - Our room (room 2) was clean and plenty spacious. It looked out over a shared terrace across the town to the slopes, and had a pleasant, clean, ensuite bathroom (with bath), but see cons. - The Chalet Hosts were friendly and helpful. - The food was simple but tasty and filling, including the veggie meals, and the complimentary wine was perfectly drinkable. - Apres ski is easily accessible, available to suit most tastes, interests and budgets, though Val d'Isere does lean (aspires) toward the more expensive end of the price scale. Cons: - Chalet Lores rather trades on its 70's quirkyness, which it lives up to, but some of the 70ishness looks a bit tired and in need of a refresh / refurb. Basically, the inside of the Chalet needs a good dose of TLC to stop quirkyness lapsing into neglect - it needs some money spending on it! - Our room was fine but some of the others were evidently on the small size. Given the choice, rooms with a balcony or terrace seemed to be more spacious. - The boot / ski room was rather cramped. It was in the main, heated part of the chalet but the boot rack was not heated. That said the room did hold eveyone's skis / boards / boots and the boots were reasonably dry in the morning. Conclusion: - We had a great time here and as a discounted deal felt it was value for money. I don't think I'd have been so happy if I'd spent the full asking price. - For us it was not a problem but I can see from the condition of the interior where some of the negative reviews are coming from. As mentioned above, some of the quirkyness risks starting to look like neglect.

comme ci comme ça - 12/01/2015
Overall

This quirky chalet is full of interesting decor from days gone by and has plenty of communal space for large groups. It was clean and tidy and the rooms had plenty of storage as well as modern en suite bathrooms in excellent condition. It can be a bit noisy through the night and in the early morning if you are unlucky enough to have a room facing the street. The ski/boot room is abysmally small for a chalet of this size - I have seen bigger in 8 person chalets! The Skiworld staff were very friendly and happy to help us settle in and answer our questions, but the food, especially breakfast, was a massive let down.

GREAT WEEK IN VAL - 10/04/2014
Overall

Wonderful week of sunshine and spring snow in Val. The Lores was excellent with a really helpful and cheerful bunch of staff from Ski World, led by Becky, and a rep, Tim, who actually did his job effectively. The food was outstanding and the catered option really good value in Val as the price of eating out in now pretty steep. The Lores is a great location just up from the centre of town past the Morris Pub (Great music). Well done Iglu Ski.
