Spacious but basic catered apartment 15/01/2014
Chalet Perelia is actually a 3 bedroom apartment in a block located at the top of a small hill midway between the main Matterhorn Express (Kleine Matterhorn) lift and the main street. Consequently it's a 5 minute walk down to the lift in the morning, and a 10 minute walk back up the hill at the end of day (note that you can lock your skis up at the lift station for SFr2 per day). The other apartments appear to be populated full time so it's generally quiet, though you're relatively close to the church so you can't escape the bells! The apartment consists of: - Spacious living room/kitchen - Small twin bedroom (Room 1) off the living room - Small twin bedroom (Room 2) down the corridor and next to the main bathroom with a nice view of the Matterhorn. - Large triple bedroom (Room 3) next to Room 2 at the end of the corridor. This is the quietest room, though it does overlook the entrance. - Small shower room/toilet with sink - off the living room - Large bathroom with toilet, twin sinks and a shower over the bath The only room where 2 beds can be pushed together is room 3, and even then the beds aren't designed to go together so it's not great for couples wanting a double bed. Rooms 1 and 2 are some of the smallest I've seen in a chalet. The entire apartment is furnished from Ikea so none of the furniture is great and the beds not very comfy. There isn't a great deal of storage in the rooms. There are shutters on all the windows. Having said that Zermatt is an expensive resort, so if you're looking for a central location at a reasonable price, particularly when it's discounted, and don't mind not having the creature comforts of many chalets it's fine. It's certainly not a 4 star location, as advertised.

First week of the 11-12 season 28/12/2011
We chose the resort of Zermatt for its high snow sure skiing for this time of the year. We stayed at the Perelia and were very impressed with the accommodation. All new amenities and I mean all new!! The chalet had just had a complete renewal. All I can say is that we have stayed in several chalets in France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria and the US but this was the smartest one yet. It was modern it did not have the typical wooden panelling all over but was clean, bright and airy. We were hosted by a young man called Gerorge who at only 18 was fantastic the whole week, all meals were very hearty and well presented. We could not fault his professionalism throughout.

As for the skiing, well we were a little disappointed as the lower slopes were not fully prepared and we were unable to ski back to the village all week. It snowed for 4 days but because it was pre season it looked like the runs would only be prepared for the following week. The weather was also very windy and this resulted in the link to Cervinia being closed for 3 days. This was disappointing.

The resort itself was very pretty although a tad expensive but we knew it would be. Due to the lack of prepared runs I would probably only return to Zermatt when the season is more open. Again I would recommend the Perelia to anyone will be very impressed with the standard of food served by George.

It's a great chalet with good location, close to the slopes. Very spcaious for 6 people and the view from the balcony is breath-taking.
