Review 04/04/2010
Just returned from a very pleasant stay at the Chalet Riviere on the outskirts of Villeneuve, Serre Chevalier. It's a modern "traditional style" chalet with comfortable en-suite rooms and very pleasant communal areas. The nearest lift is the Pontillas which is approx 5 minutes stomp away. The estimate of 8 minutes to the Frejus is a bit optimistic (nearer 20 in ski boots) but there was a regular free bus which stopped almost outside the chalet and calls at all three of the main Villeneuve lift sites. Hired our gear from Ski Connections who also run a ski school and they couldn't of been more helpful (changed my boots 3 times until I was comfy). Davina, who runs the place is English, so no language problems either! For evening entertainment, we made our way back into town to the lively "La Grotte" (Aravet, 10-15 mins), the very pleasant Anglo/French run "Frog" (Frejus, 10 mins) or the "Mojo" (Old Town, 10 mins). The skiing in Serre Chevalier is excellent with a good variety of easy and more challenging runs over a huge and well linked area. Boarders may find some of the many buttons a bit of a trial, especially the vicious 'Cretes' at the top of the Frejus with its snatch start and 45 deg haul!

"Just home from Christmas in Val d'Isere... this was the best ski holiday I have ever been on. Val is stunning, the hotel fabulous, staff sensational and skiing out of this world. We booked through Iglu. They were fantastic. Peter had great ski knowledge, offered advice and went the extra mile. " - Pamela (Dec 2015)
