Amazing Ski Trip to Chalet Tetra - 05/05/2011
Overall

I have just returned from a week in Chalet Tetra, Les Arcs 1800 on the 26/03/11. There were 4 of us travelling and we had a nice early flight leaving at 06:10am — I prefer to get to resort early and get my equipment sorted anyway. We were met by the reps at Grenoble and on our way 30 mins later. Our chalet staff were waiting for us when we arrived and helped with our luggage which was great. The chalet is ski in ski out which is great with a short 50 meter ski down the mountain to the first lift. If you need to go to the town centre it is about a 5 min walk down a steep hill. The chalet is very cosy and we were made to feel at home straight away. Chalet Tetra is an enhanced chalet so the food and meals were of top quality. The chalet was kept very clean the whole time. We were served a complimentary glass of champagne and hors d'oeuvres every night before dinner. We also indulged in plenty of free wine until coffee. The chalet has a small balcony overlooking the valley with a great view of Mont Blanc. Room 2 has a great big bath. Ski lockers are downstairs and easy to get to. Lift passes are brought direct to the chalet. The resort of Les Arcs has a huge ski area so we were spoilt for choice. It is very easy to get up to Les Arcs 2000 and higher. Don't miss the Aguille Rouge as it has a great view — you can take either a scary black or windy red back down the mountain. I really enjoyed the variety of runs and snowboard park was lots of fun. They have music and a huge blow up bag to practise jumps and tricks. It is also very easy to get over to La Plagne on the Vanois Express. So linking the two resorts gives you an even bigger ski area. On the whole an amazing trip even though the snow lower down was starting to melt. Having a glacier and being very high up meant plenty of snow on the upper slopes. We were looked after like VIP's by our reps and chalet staff. If you are looking for quaint town feel then it might not be for you — it's a purpose built resort. If you are looking for huge ski area with something for all abilities, great quality chalet and service with amazing views then this is for you! I would definitely take friends back there and book again.

Spent Christmas 2010 here. Great view of the fireworks from chalet on Christmas Eve but resort quiet for apres ski. People don't go out until after 10:00pm. Chalet common area too small when full. Rooms basic but reasonable. Not too inconvenient having the private toilet rather than ensuite. Excellent intermediate runs in the trees during the many flat days during this week in the Vallandry and Plan Peisey areas. Can be very windy and cold at top of Col De La Chal when crossing over to Arc 2000. Arc 1600 surprisingly nice in good conditions for tired legs. Highest point of area Aiguille Rouge, go if the weather is good for great panorama and take the short steep hike up to the view point.
