Snowboarding 2015 12/01/2015
We went as a group of 7 fellas, age range from mid twenties to early fifties Chalet - Classed as a 'classic' chalet, its tucked down about 100M of the mountain road and can be very icy (make sure you have decent footwear from the start!) The door opens into the open plan front room/ dinning area and kitchen. there's no boot warmers/ storage, and the ski locker is the outhouse chalet storage area below the chalet, which was filled with logs, boxed wine and rodent traps! The 'sitting room' has a settee, 2 single chairs and a large bean bag, next to a open log fire which is nice when you return in the afternoon and you just fancy lounging around in the evening. (5 seats into 7 around the fire!!) The dinning room has a bench seat against the wall for 3 with a seat each end a 2 with a low light (banged the foreheads a few ties grabbing the bread basket, to the amusement of the others!) Kitchen - mainly the the chalet hosts area, but you will need to venture in here to make a coffee or tea. Not the best kitchen and the host was a magician with the equipment, how he made the meals (some of the best food we've eaten) is beyond any of us. Bedrooms - down stairs are the 3 bedrooms, a twin, a double and bunked with a further single bed. Theirs not much in way of wardrobes and we lived out of the cases for the week. Bathroom - A bath/shower and 2 sinks. Pros - We got lucky and had the best chalet host, this made a huge difference as we offered to buy more food to make up portions (see cons!) The walk to the chairlifts is a good warm up (about 10 minutes), where you have a few options to get there, quick route down a steep bank or a long route around the hotels The walk back can be a good warm down (see above, in reverse!) Cons - If you dont like walking in ski boots... see above or snowboard instead! No ski lockers in town to store ski equipment, so this needs to be carried everywhere, unless you snowboard and you don't have this problem Icy road to/from chalet if the conditions are bad Hot water last about 20 minutes so you need to time your showers and be quick. Theirs a venue down the hill which has music nights, which can hold a good few hundred people. And theirs a few hotels which are student accommodation... take ear plugs just in case Summary - If you get a good deal, don't mind walking, except that its not the Ritz, enjoy the company of the ones you travel with, not fussy, accept that hot water is not for everyone, then this is a very good chalet. We as a group liked it very much, as we didn't mind fixing the boiler, sorting a leak out or reattaching a heater to the wall, but that might not be for everyone.... but as mentioned, we got a very good deal and we see it as. you get what you pay for!! so if you've done a good few winter holidays, you know what to expect. Ideal for for - Party groups/ students/ budget finders Not good for - Family groups

Chalet Yves at Les Arcs 1800 in 2011 09/04/2011
The chalet is slightly off the beaten track but well worth the walk to the free bus service to the slopes. A quaint little chalet where we were well catered for with fantastic food. Chalet was as expected, my only criticism was that the sofa was not very comfy in the evening after a hard day skiing.

Skiing was great, we were a mixed abiity group, skiing and snowboarding, with plenty of red and blue runs (none of us brave enough for blacks), there was also ample off piste skiing to be had too.

Would definately recommend.
