Great Hotel, Great Location, Great Staff.

I have just come back from a week's skiing in Les Deux Alpes where I stayed at the Hotel Les Airelles. I think to sum it up, it's like being at home just up a mountain. I went with a group of 12 people, so we took the family room along with two triples, the family suite was spacious but only had one toilet and one bathroom with shower. The triple I stayed in was spacious, clean and although basic did the job, the balcony had a lovely view looking out over the mountains from Venosc.

The hotel is in a perfect location, being only a five minute walk from the Red Egg lift, which takes you up to the right side of the mountain, where it is easy to ski down to the Pano Bar and also the Jandari express lift taking you up towad the super diablo chairlift and on the glacier.

The hotel itself is basic and is definetly no frills, such as no tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms. I would however say that this is counter acted by the fact the urn is always full of hot water and the coffee machine is almost always on in the lounge. The staff however are awesome and make the hotel seem like you are at home just up a mountain, they are all warm and friendly and are always there to help. They are led by Clare who I think is superwomen... she runs the hotel and also doubles as the chef.

This brings me nicely onto the food... Wow is all i am going to say. For breakfast there is a mixed platter of cheese and ham along with a choice of cereal, if this was not enough then there was always a full fry up — which can be ordered from one of the team.

Every day there was a different cake for afternoon tea, along with tea, coffee, bread and jams. This was brilliant especially if one had stopped at Pano on the way down and needed something to fill the stomach before an afternoon nap!

Dinner was a varied three course meal, which I would say in my opinion was as good as any restaurant. The meals were awesome and definitely filled you up after a long hard day skiing, especially when it was washed down with a beer from the hotel bar — which is very reasonable and cheaper than some of the local bars! Joe the barman will be quite happy to have a chat and give you some hints about the best runs, as well as also keeping you entertained with his own style of djing.

I think in short this hotel is awesome in every aspect of the word, from the food to the staff to the friendly homely atmosphere they promote. This is very true of the lounge where most people got together over a cuppa and cake, I have never found this before when I have stayed in a hotel.

fantastic holiday!!!! 16/03/2013
Just returned from week snowboarding and stayed in Les Airelles. Although the Chalet itself was dated and in need of a facelift the staff were fantastic and the food spot on. The rooms themselves were sparse but nice and warm and the beds surprisingly comfy. All staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, and often went above and beyond what might be expected off them - sorting out our ski hire and lessons after a botched booking was just one example of this. Would be a 5 star review but the dated and slightly shabby state of the chalet brings it down to 4-star. If you want a great value holiday and aren't too fussed about showing off pictures of beautiful chalet interiors to your friends, this is definitely the place to go!!!!!

1 week of fun 11/04/2011
I and my son had an amazing time at Les Deux Alps staying the Club Hotle Les Airless one week ago. The staff at the hotel were so friendly and welcoming, thank you to everyone for their dedication. The food was lovely, cooked breakfast and all that, and home made cakes for the afternoon. Evening meals were home cooked and I would say they were okay, nothing special but well presented and tasty, moreover plenty of free wine on the table. Hotel was very basic but it was very clean.

The night out was excellent and Joanne, the rep, organised a pub crawl and thought that was fun. We ended up in 5-6 pubs and had few drinks and a bit of boogie. Some pubs can go to the some extreme, you can't see too much of that in London. If you looking for a week of fun that’s the place to go for both skiing and night out. Lol.

I would recommend Les Deux Alps, it has some brilliant slopes for all levels. The amazing thing was the Glacier nearly 4000m up, where you can ski all the year around, some amazing rides from the Jandre lift, Teleferique, and Funiculare (train) through the mountains. The snow was brilliant, it was so sunny and you could rest while sunbathing during lunch. There was a lovely spa and an outdoor pool with saunas and Jacuzzis in the town centre and you could get free entry for the pool with the ski pass.

I would definitely want to come back sometimes.

Great value hotel, situated within easy reach of hire shops, restaurants, bars etc.

Nearest chairlift is only a stone's throw away, or a shortwalk into the centre of resort.

Hotel is fairly spacious, with large dining area, lounge, bar (with free pool table), and even though we had a triple room there was plenty of space for all our bags.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and always very enthusiastic!

Food was ok, nothing spectacular but then again if you wanted gourmet cuisine then you should be elsewhere.

For the price, you really can't complain.

The resort itself is a bit on the smaller side for those who are experienced on the slopes, so I'd recommend doing a day trip to the nearby Serre Chevalier or Alpe D'huez.

Well worth the transport costs to get to sample 3 resorts in the space of 1 week!

All in all, a great value hotel and resort for those on a budget.

Overall: 4 of us stayed at the Club Hotel Les Airelles for a week in March 2011 and had a great time for a great price!

IgluSki Booking: Very easy booking process, spoke with someone competent and were able to split the payments which made things easy as there were two couples.

Accomodation: The Club Hotel Les Airelles is very basic with limited furniture, however, it is clean, in a fantastic location and the staff are very friendly. Those that expect luxury will be disappointed as the hotel is very tired but for the price you are likely to pay it is great. One could argue that the hotel needs a complete re-fit but then the price of a holiday here would have to rise dramatically and I think it would lose some of its appeal.

Food: Everyone in the group agreed that the food was good. Some nights were better than others but this has a lot to do with personal tastes. Breakfast was good and the cakes in the afternoon pretty decent too!

Resort - skiing: Great resort for skiing/boarding. Europe seemed to struggle for snow in 2011 and it was unusually warm but this is one of the reasons we chose Les Deux Alpes with its glaciers. The slopes towards town were mostly closed (only the one black option) due to lack of snow but because the ski area goes so high there was some fantastic skiing to be had! We had a beginner in our group who really enjoyed her ski school (ESF) and there are some challenging runs for the expert skier. Shame there wasn't more snow as there seems to be plenty of off-piste to tackle as well.

Resort - apres: More of a night-time resort than an afternoon 'straight-after-skiing' one, but there is still a lot of fun to be had at any time of the day! Some really good bars/clubs - would recommend Smokey Joes, Smithys, Secrets, and Yeti.
