Les Christelles - Worth it or not? 28/01/2013
Firstly, let me say overall I enjoyed my holiday with a couple of friends. However, that was more to do with the resort, the price paid and our state of mind, as opposed to the accommodation. On the positive side, the staff are friendly, the chef Shane knows his stuff most of the time and the whole group try their best. Les Christelles has 17 bedrooms only. It is dated and whilst kept clean is not at a level of comfort the price suggests. Our bedroom, which seems to be fairly typical, had no opening windows. The only way to get fresh air was to have the veranda door open, which is hardly practical at night. The bathroom is internal (not a problem) but has no extractor fan (big problem with three or more adults using it). These issue of ventilation were compounded the presence of some form of underfloor heating which works all night and turns the bunk bed area into an oven. Lounge and reading area? A sofa and armchair in a small internal room (again no ventilation). TV room? Never found it. Yoghurt pots open to midnight? Only 11pm I am afraid. Hotel terrace? Small wooden piece of flooring, no tables or chairs. Transfers? We got there but it involved a change from coach to minibus somewhere in Moutiers. Overall? At nearly £600 for a week, I would run a mile in the other direction and find a chalet with barely a glance over my shoulder. At £300, it is a bargain and somewhere in the middle one view becomes the other. Enjoy.
