Review Club Med Aime La Plagne ID #34187661 17/04/2011
Club Med is geared to families with younger children. Before having children we were regular skiers then took a 5 year break until our oldest (now 4) was old enough for lessons. Being used to chalet holidays I was a little sceptical about being in a big hotel on an all-inclusive deal but I must say I was turned around by the quality and organisation of the holiday.

For the adults it's great to be able to leave your kids in the kids clubs all day so you can take off skiing. In that regard Aime La Plagne is well connected into the huge La Plagne ski area. The hotel is ski-in ski-out with good runs both above and below. It's high and gets good snow conditions. In the evenings the food is superb - massive choice of real gourmet French cuisine, even fresh oysters one night! The wine is free and although basic is fine.

For the kids there are organised lessons and they are well looked after. My son was quite happy in his class and really enjoyed his first week of skiing.

The only downsides are that the hotel is 80% French, although the instructors in the kids ski school do speak English and there were 2-3 other English kids in my son's group. So it wasn't a problem. I also had lessons and it was a purely English-speaking group. So don't let language put you off.

Also Aime La Plagne is a pretty uninspiring resort with just a few big concrete hotel blocks and that's it. There are a few shops but if you like your apres ski and wondering round old alpine village centres then try elsewhere, I would thoroughly recommend this holiday if you have young children, want good skiiing (without the children!) and are not worried about apres ski.
