Nice but a little run down 21/04/2015
The hotel was nice but somewhat run down, the service very friendly but often incompetent. The food was plenty and even varied but a little too ambitious, attempting a marriage of often contrasting tastes with few successful surprises at the end. Having holidayed with Club Med many times before, I was disappointed at the cut-backs (no oysters on the sea food evening for example) and an overall sense of 'stingyness' I've not really felt before. The pool however is great and the skiing can be very varied on well-groomed pistes. Late in the season there are no cues and the ski instructor was wonderful.

An international pleasure 31/01/2015
May not be to everyone's taste but I have just had a fantastic week in Cervinia at ClubMed. I was allowed out on my own and this was something like my 50th week skiing but my first with CM - and what a surprise. The staff were very engaging, the food was unbelievable and it was a joy to spend a week in the company of so many nationalities (over 30 countries) both skiing, in the restaurant and at the bar. Looks expensive initially but the all inclusive really is value. Only the ski hire was a bit steep but I've always wondered who could afford to reserve a table in a mountain restaurant every day. The mountain food was excellent and drink perhaps a little too free for afternoon skiing - but then you don't get much lemoncello or genepi in the UK. Worth noting that, with chalet ski hosting in question, the ski school included is perhaps the only viable option. Our instructor, Paulo Bic, for whom nothing was too much trouble, didn't just guide but did instruct - and few English skiers won't benefit from that. The snow was variable but Cervinia for skiing did not overly impress, there are better. A massive area that seemed to me a bit randomly pisted but avalanche potential may influence that. The lifts are very long, but there are some good reds - particularly the 16k down to Valtournenche. The police are active on the slopes, mainly to prevent off-piste skiing without all the right gear (transponder, air bag, spade etc.) and the fines are high. Verbier is altogether different but an unreliable return and a very dear taxi back if you get caught by the weather (a Russian couple told me over 900 euros). Piste colours are a bit unreliable and this wouldn't be first choice in Italy for the family, the Branta area (Madonna) or Via Lattea would be better for my mine. My only warning are - do not expect to speak English everyday and to everyone, that's part of the pleasure, and don't go immediately after Christmas with any intention of losing wieight (or if you've sworn off alcohol). But we will definitely look at ClubMed again for a family holiday next time. Now just have to find a job that pays a bit more to afford it.

Review Club Med 19/04/2011
We had a great holiday here despite the snow being more or less absent at resort level. Above 2,500m there was lots of snow and more fell while we were away and we could always ski back to the resort via the one open piste although it was slushy in the afternoon.

So far as Club Med was concerned I think we all thought it was fantastic. The food was outstanding, the teenage ski group that my daughter was in great fun and very fast and we loved having lunch included up the mountain. Our only criticism was the lack of a quiet area for those of us without small, noisy children who seemed still to be running around when they should have been in bed - the bar was bedlam most of the time which was a shame. The smokers got a lovely quiet area why not those without young children?

We visited the Cervinia Club Med in early April 2011. The food was exceptional, the skiing was extensive and the ski-guides were excellent. My skiing technique and style improved more this week than ever before due to Paulo's tuition. Our two children were very happy with the facilities at the MiniClub and both had an excellent holiday despite them both being in two different ski groups.  Even my initially rather reluctant partner (who has not enjoyed skiing much before) professed himself pleased with the week's holiday.

We did note that the swimming pool was a bit too cold for our younger child (age 4) and the Cristallo bedrooms were too hot - so put some of the heat from the bedrooms into the pool please!

We would definitely go there again.

If you could ski from the hotel this property would get a ten. Run 16 is the run which will take you back to Club Med. The 20m pool is a great way to unwind from a hard days ski. If you like speed skiing Cervinia is a place where you can clock the k's on the many long reds. Since 1947, the year of the historical record-breaking performance by Zeno Colò (159.292 km/h), Breuil-Cervinia has become the home of Speed Skiing.

If you like the off-piste Zermatt is the place to head off to where you will be amazed how much there is & the quality. Do note the last lift times to get back to Cervinia from Furi 1864m. It is an expensive trip back to Cervinia if your late. Try a visit to the Iglu bar below Gornergrat sation in Zermatt for a bar with a difference.
