Review 13/01/2010
I have been here before in 2007 and am going back this year 2009. Simple, clean and great customer service. Meals were included in 2007 and were great value and well prepared. Room had a wall heater for your kit. Invaluable when coming back and also warms the room well. Good location to the slopes, and public transport. Excellent choice if you want to improve your snowboarding in peace.

Are is a surprisingly good ski resort. There is a good selection of blue, red and black runs all well groomed and offering good skiing for the beginner and intermediate skier. The lift system uses mostly T bars as they are able to run in higher winds than the traditional chairs and gondolas. The only way of linking between the different centres is a ski bus which is free (with a ski pas) and only runs half hourly. If you miss the last one home a taxi from ARE to Duved (where the Renen is located) costs £25.The on-piste catering is good and varied with prices ranging from SKR 50 for a beer to SKR 150 for burger and chips. The wigwam restaurant is unique and good value, well recomended. We stayed in the Renen hotel (half board) which was comfortable. The rooms had a heater cabinet which allowed residents to dry and warm their boots jackets etc. A VERY nice facility! The food was good although only one choice is served for dinner in the evening with no menu in advance to alert anyone who may have particular dislikes or alergies. The cooked breakfast was good with sausage, bacon and eggs every day as well as cold meat and cheeses etc.

Overall I would go back but if you want Apres Ski Duved is NOT recomended but good for quieter evenings.
