Never skied here but did snowmobile on the mountain opposite and Kicking Horse looked absolutely awesome... Got me some big fat Atomic skis and I am going back some day, well as soon as my wee boy grows up a bit anyway!!!

Without any doubt one of the best ski hills in north america.

I spent 4 days here in 08. Amazing terrain, excellent facilities with non-crowded and very nice expansive beginners area at the foot of the mountain. However this mountain is definitely for those who want to test themselves a bit more, with areas aptly named Redemption Ridge and terminator, you get the picture. The town of Golden isn't as pretty as most and the mountain from a distance looks small. However, this perception soon disappears on the mountain when you take the first ride on the lifts and look at the runs on either side of you. There are also fantastic back country opportunities in the area. Will be returning this year and doing a Heli ski trip.

Intense + inbounds?...Who would've thought! 14/07/2011
Kicking Horse is a really special place. I love steep skiing, and it didn't disappoint. Climbing up "Stairway to Heaven" your heart races as you prepare to drop-in to a steep slope straight off a 15 foot cornice. But the snow here is super dry, forgiving, well maintained and allows you to do things you just wouldn't in Europe without being completely away from the pistes. So after hesitating for a few minutes... you jump in, and adreneline takes over & are left feeling both exhausted and exhilerated! You could spend months here investigating all the different variations into the bowls and endless backcountry - if you are lucky enough to have the infamous KH powder day, there's no other place on earth I would rather ski. For those of you who prefer to take it easy, there are some great blues & greens, and if you are looking to improve the instructors & guides here are some of the best in Canada. Apres is suprisingly good too, we saw quite a few live bands & enjoyed good-value food & drinks. If you get the chance, definitely check out KH before the secret breaks out! Oh, and watch out for the bear that sleeps in the middle of the skiarea...

Powder Express! 22/11/2012
If there was one place I'd love to come back to on a powder day, it would be Kicking Horse. We skied here as a day trip from Banff, on the Powder Express coach tour - just $99 for a day out including transfers & lift pass - happy days!

Being able to ski trees, cornices & cliffs all in-bounds is incredible. This used to be heli-ski terrain - so you can only imagine how epic the mountain is. There are runs for intermediates, but advanced skiers will have a lot more fun. Areas such as "Stairway to Heaven" will make your adrenaline pump... If you like steeps, the name is very apt!

If you get a chance to go, jump on it before the cat is out the bag and the masses turn up.
