Great for apres ski 24/03/2011
We had a great week in Livigno. It was the first time we had boarded in Italy and it was a good holiday, the ski area is excellent for beginners and intermediates and everything is easily accessible despite the layout of the town which stretches along a valley.

At the weekend the locals come out so it is busier, but you can do some great ski suit spotting.

The only downside was that the conditions weren't the best as it was quite icy and windy, on our last night there was a massive dump of snow so the conditions looked perfect as we left the resort.

We took a day trip over to St. Moritz and enjoyed a brilliant day on the slopes there - well worth it.

Great for families, but very cold and a bit of a pain to get around. 15/01/2013
Lots of slopes of all grades, but beware that the easier and harder slopes are often nowhere near each other. The lower grade runs are mostly in the valley whereas the harder ones are up on the top, so if you have your kids with you, it can be hard to accommodate all of them. You have to decide from the outset whether to go for green/blue in the valley or blue/red at the top, because there are no harder runs low down. Also, occasionally the child and adult ski-schools start from opposite sides of town at the same time. Getting from one area to another on the overcrowded buses is hard work too. Saying that, the town was great and the snow pretty much guaranteed - so much so that we almost couldn't get home because all the roads out were closed. We also spent 45 minutes on the longest, coldest, windiest, most rickety chairlift in the world and one of my kids was crying from the cold by the time we got to the top.

A wonderful trip that too in budget 08/10/2014
Amazed after witnessing such a classy collection in museums and of course the trip was something which I cant forget ever. Talking of places off-the-beaten path, this could be an idea for our summer next year. It is away from the crowds at the beach, and this sounds perfect.

Fantastic all round resort 23/03/2015
This was my third ski holiday in my third resort in the last 3 years and Livigno was the best. I had previously been to St. Anton and Bardonnechia and I would rate Livigno better taking everything into consideration (size of resort/variety of slopes, apres-ski, value for money, quality of food, and accomodation). There was something for everyone with nursery slopes and good choice of long gradual blue runs up to testing black runs and snow parks. The pistes were much smoother and nicer to ride at the start of the day than the end of the day as you would expect. The apres bars were very good. Alegra at the bottom of The Carosello lift was the best and got very lively on the two occasions we went there. Stalet (also at the bottom of Carosello) was also good. There were a couple of pubs/clubs that were decent (Miky's and Bivio's). They tended to pick up from midnight and were open until 3am. In terms of bars on the mountain the only real one seemed to be Camanel on the Mottolino side. This seemed to get busier around 12-2pm with the odd group dancing on the benches outside The Bella vista restaurant was brilliant. We didn't really go anywhere else as this was so good. Great pizzas to eat in or takeaway, a huge choice of pastas, meat dishes etc. All was delicious and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Livigno to anyone
