Mayrhofen 26/11/2012
Went to Mayrhofen last year and I really have to admit it’s the world class skiing area! Great ski schools, not forgetting about the first children's ski school in the world ‘Riki’s Skikindergarten’. The village itself is just beautiful with its traditional soul and typical Tyrolean architecture. For more advanced skiers I would advise to spend more time on Penken! Don’t miss the pleasure to cruise on Harakiri! There are no two ways about it - it is the steepest slope in Austria! Let the adrenaline pressure to blow your mind away! In fact, Mayrhofen won’t disappoint you either with its impressive off piste ski terrain! And it’s backed up by the Hintertux glacier so don’t worry about the grass underneath your skis! There are plenty of extra activities at the resort and of course the Vans Penken Park and the apres ski just rocks! There is no chance to get bored in Mayrhofen, I’m definitely back this winter.

Can't ski back to resort 10/09/2012
Unfortunately we didn't realise until after we had booked that can't ski back to resort. This was only our second week skiing, with first being in St Anton, but having to get the gondola off the mountain in the evening annoyed us so much that nobody in our group would go back to Mayrhofen but we would all go back to St Anton. We loved St Anton for being able to ski to the Krazy Kangaruh and Mooserwirt when we felt like it and enjoying the apres beers and atmoshphere. Then when we'd had too many beers skiing the short run back to the town. In Mayrhofen you have the issue of the gondola back to the resort closing around 17:30. We would finish skiing, have a couple of drinks and then have to join the masses trying to get off the mountain which took on average at least an hour and just ruined the enjoyment. On a plus point the skiing and town were both great and it was easy enough to get the train to nearby resorts and so if the apres isn't too important for you I would recommend Mayrhofen. Or, if like us, you want to start on the beers and stay on them, not have to miss an hour in the middle to get off the mountain then I would avoid Mayrhofen.

Bottomless Powder 11/01/2012
Just back from Mayrhofen and I can honestly say that Sunday was as good a day's skiing as I've ever had. It was like skiing in the USA with bottomless powder off piste and a nice 6 inches of powder on piste. On Monday the snow was a fraction heavier so it only made my top 5 ever powder days :) In conditions like this you can huck off anything and know you will never get near to hitting the bottom of the snow.

Simply a top resort 09/01/2012
What do want from ski holiday? Have tried Val, 3 Valleys, Zermatt and Verb and few others along the way, BUT keep coming back to the Big 'M'. Its the cool scene. Single or with the mrs I have always had fun. The lifts and runs improve each year along with the great bars AND all at a reasonable price that doesn't make you wince (are you listening Verb/Val etc, a tenner a beer hurts ). 3 euros a beer and a main course for 12 euros. Getting abit old for the parks, but plenty of decent boarding out there for the knackered 45 year old. Love that Hintertux glacier, superb powder.

The Hoff 10/11/2011
Went to Mayrhofen for Christmas 2009. I'd have to say this is thus far my favourite ski resort; however as a more experienced skier now I'm not so sure I'd enjoy it as much now. I'd say if you are a keen beginner or timid intermediate or someone who doesn't feel the need to cover mile after mile of piste go and I'm sure you'll love it. If you crave distance you may get a little bored. The Apres, character, Charm, friendliness, Ski school was all first class. As too was the hotel Kramirwert. A lovely place and nice for couples or party goers alike.
