The Residence Les Hauts Bois is situated in the Aime La Plagne area a few hundred meters above La Plagne center. There are a few other large apartment blocks in the area, most notably the large complex behind Les Hauts Bois Residence. This complex has good collection of bars, restaurants and a supermarket. Fortunately Les Hauts Bois apartments sit in front of the other buildings so your view down to la Plagne isn't spoiled.

The apartments can be reached easily by car, with a large car park out the front of the building that was free of charge. If traveling by public transport there are also local buses that stop outside the apartments and a cable car that links Aime to La Plagne center.

The apartments are run by Pierre & Vacances they seem like a well organized outfit and are happy to help sort ski passes, bread deliveries and even arrange free kit for babies (no need to bring buggies etc.) They also offer a free pool/spa and have a small gym. Generally it seems like a higher quality of service compared to the usual budget apartment complexes.

We had an apartment for 8 Adults and a baby. 4 Bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 1 shower. The kitchen, dining area and living room were in one room, while the bedrooms and bathrooms were split between two floors. The bedrooms were a bit tight, but the living spaces were large enough to enjoy and relax, with a dining table fit for 10 people or so. There was also a large balcony that just caught the evening sun.

Skiing from the apartments was easy, straight out the boot room onto a blue run. One chair lift later and you are a short run to the center. Beginners can join ski school based directly in Aime la Plagne. Despite being only a lift away from the center of the resort the return journey at the end of the day can be a bit tedious, requiring a few more lifts. You will tire of this by the end of the week. This might also be something to consider if you hoped to ski in Les Arcs, the other side of the resort.

We had a great trip, enjoyed a day trip to Tignes to see the winter X games and saw some of the world cup freestyle ski halfpipe competition (look out for these events in March). The accommodation was really good quality, but it didn't come cheap, given the location away from the center it's hard to justify the price.

Pros: Quality apartment and staff, Genuine 8 person (no sleeping on sofas), Pool/spa, Baby friendly, Ski to door.

Cons: Location when compared to the focus of runs in the resort.
