Skiing in St Johann
With many north-facing slopes, the resort boasts a good snow record and is an excellent choice for groups of mixed ability skiers. The area pass ('Schneewinkel') opens up a wealth of other possibilities, encompassing the ski areas of 10 resorts, all linked by local bus services. The Steinplatte area even allows you to ski/board into Germany.
The traffic-free centre adds to the attractive, traditional village atmosphere. Away from the ski slopes there are numerous activities including tobogganing, ice skating, hot air ballooning, horse-drawn sleigh rides, as well as the usual mix of indoor activities including swimming.

Cross Country Skiing:St. Johann is a great base from which to enjoy cross-country skiing. Well laid out groomed trails head out in both directions from town. Nearby there are 75km (29 miles) of cross-country trails to follow - taking you through the valley floor towards Kitzbühel or towards Kirchdorf and Waidring.
This sport is a perfect way to enjoy the wonderful scenery as you glide along, admiring the majestic 'Wilder Kaiser' mountains, or the famous 'Kitzbühelerhorn'. Equipment can be hired in town and, for those new to the sport, the local ski schools offer cross-country skiing lessons.
