I found Winter Park Mountain Lodge to be a bit tired and scruffy, but the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a mountain view room - the view was great but the noisy ventilation did keep us awake on several nights. Although the hotel is close to the slopes (as the crow flies) you still need to take the shuttle bus across the highway to the base of the mountain. The bus runs all day (about every 20 mins) so this isn't a big problem though. They have a decent bar, pool table was broken when we were there though, but the restaurant was very average - we took the shuttle into the village to eat most nights. At best I think you should view this hotel as 'cheap and cheerful'.

Mountain Lodge is a Lovely clean Hotel. The restaurant has lots of choice and good value. It is lovely to sit by those large windows watching the mountains knowing I would be at the top of them in an hour. It felt great. The bedrooms were clean and we felt like we had enough space; the Americans don’t do small. So their smallest room was great. The hotel had a swimming pool and Jacuzzi. They were amazing, a must after a days skiing and you can watch the mountains again while you bubble away. I’m looking forward to my return.
