Overall

Due to an overbooking by Crystal we ended at up the Sasserhoff - what a great hotel. Location - It's very close to the main lift area, and a short walk to the nursery slopes - saves you walking miles to get to the slopes in the morning, or a hike up the hill when you've done. The only negative for some people would be that it's 50m from the Black Bull après-ski "shed", with its load outdoor PA system playing "party" music early into the evening - no snoozing on your balcolny ... however, the "shush police" switch it off at 8pm. As an escape from the noise on your balcony, you can retreat to the spa. This is lovely, with two different steam rooms and two saunas and a relaxation area. Be aware, costumes are banned on the main spa area, so steer clear if you are shy. There is also a whirlpool bath outside the spa where costumes are mandatory. Food - big breakfast buffet and additional hot foot cooked to order - with breakfast going on 'til 10am. The highlight is the 5-course evening meals which were fab. You're asked to choose your starter and main in the morning to help the chefs, but it wasn't compulsory if you couldn't make your mind up that early. Now here comes my only complaint - you will be charged 4CHF (about £3) for a carafe of tap water - which is quite frankly ridiculous. The (small) bar prices are quite reasonable for what is a very expensive resort. A nice thought was on our leaving day to be presented with a packed lunch – the transfer to Geneva is over three hours, so it was certainly welcome! Accommodation – what can I say? The room was excellent. Clean, roomy, good sized bed and lovely sunny balcony. Overall the hotel was lovely, with excellent, friendly and attentive staff. I would definitely recommend the Saaserhoff.

Apres Ski: 3/5
