Ski Holidays in Samnaun
The neighbouring resort to Ischgl in Austria, Samnaun and Ischgl together make up the largest ski area in the Eastern Alpes. Thanks to it's remote geography, with the only road to the village in the 19th century coming from Austria rather than Switzerland, Samnaun is exempt from Swiss sales taxes. The long red run from the top of the Palinkopf at 2864m down to the village has become known as the duty free run, with skiers zooming down in the afternoon to collect tax-free goodies from the Swiss side of the border.
With ultra-modern high speed lifts and a less rowdy atmosphere than Ischgl, Samnaun is an excellent option for exploring the gigantic Silveretta ski area
