They don't build them like this any more. Built over 130 years ago by Canadian Pacific Railway company. Great facilities including indoor and heated outdoor pool, hot tub, amazing restaurants and bars. Great access to all ski areas and ski bus picks up from front door on a regular basis. I would recommend a 1 day heli ski trip (can be booked in hotel) best to check weather forecast/conditions when you arrive and pick best day, sometimes they have standby places. You must try a large size Bloody Caeser cocktail in the Rundle bar, they say it was invented here. Easy to get into Banff to sample great food and lively bars, huge amount of choice and all good. Make sure you go to the Upper Hot Springs above the hotel.

Banff Springs hotel excellent as expected for a Fairmont and the ski bus stops right outside the ski locker room for the short ride to Sunshine. Join the Fairmont Presidents Club on line (no charge) before you go to enjoy free access to the fantastic pool and hot tub area. Nice surprise on day one to spot an Elk grazing on the hotel lawn!! Norquay is good for a day as nice and quiet and well groomed. The bus ride to Lake Louise from Banff takes about 45 minutes but worth it if the weather is good. Sunshine is the place to be though as it has something for everyone. Banff town (a pleasant and easy 15 minute walk from the Banff Springs) has plenty of pubs, restaurants and shops. The ribs in the Elk & Oarsman recommended and they have drinks specials every night. Food and drink not cheap but better than some European resorts and good value as portions are large. Just about everything comes with chips!! If Iglu can come up with another great deal next year we'll be back in Banff.
