Chalet Marmotte Reviews
This is a fantastic family orientated resort. It is on the smaller side, and when we went in mid-January, it meant that there were no queues for the lifts and it was really easy to find friends. More importantly for us, it meant that the kids could run around and we could still keep an eye on them due to the lack of crowds. I would thoroughly recommend Chalet Marmotte if you have young children who will be having lessons. It is a few minutes walk to the ski school (my 4 year old will not walk too far, but even in ski boots, did not complain once) and saved much hassle about trying to get to lessons on time. The chalet host was so lovely - really accomodating and genuine - one of the best we have ever had. The tour rep was also fantastic - usually we only see them on the coach during the transfer, however, he popped in every night to check if we needed anything (in an unintrusive way) and again, was very accomodating. An additional bonus was that it was clear that there was a real sense of friendship between the seasonal workers in the chalet, which contributed to the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. The resort is definately geared towards beginners/intermediate - lots of blue and red runs. however, it is possible (and easy) to ski to la thuile, where there are some blacks. alternatively, there are plenty of off piste opportunities in la rosiere. we didn't go out much, although i got the sense that it was pretty quiet - again, great if you have young children!
