Basic but good - 13/31/2013
Overall

It seems like finding a review of this hotel is difficult, so I decided I'd write one. We stayed here for four nights in Feb 2013 and here are my thoughts: Location: The hotel is around 20 - 25 mins walk from the centre of Morzine. There's a good bus service (take the P or U bus) which runs to and from Morzine every 10 mins or so. There isn't much near the hotel in terms or bars and shops, but that was fine for us as we bought the few bits we needed from the centre. Rooms: The rooms are basic, but warm (in fact one room was a little too warm and the rad couldn't be adjusted) and the beds were comfortable. This is a 2* hotel, so don't expect anything flash. The furniture is dated, but who cares when you're on a winter holiday? The showers were nice and hot and had good pressure. Breakfast: Warm croissant, French bread, scrambled eggs, orange juice and a hot drink. Note this is served rather than buffet style. No variation so by the last morning we were wanting something different, but the food was good. Dinner: This varied each day and was very good (better than breakfast). Typically three or four courses. Typical starter: Salad with bread. Mains would be good sized meat dish with veg. Some days they have a cheese trolley with a selection of local cheeses. This went down very well, though it did make for some interesting aromas on the mountain the next day. Desserts were mousses, tiramisu etc. Bar: Slightly lacking in people (maybe it was just a quiet week). Pint of beer = 4 euros. Service: Very friendly and accommodating. This is what made us enjoy our stay so much. Food was always served with a smile. Recommendations were made on where we could find the best powder. And on the last day we were offered a room to keep until 5pm free of charge so we could store our gear and shower before the transfer. Note that this was suggested - we didn't have to ask. Overall: We all enjoyed our stay. If you enjoy a posh hotel then this might not be for you. If you are happy in a basic hotel and on a budget (and don't mind being away from the centre) this place is perfect. We plan to go back.
