Amazing Stay in an amazing resort - 15/25/2013

Hi, My wife and I went with a friend to the Champs Avalins over Christmas 2012. What a surprise we had. I must admit that I was not expecting what we got. Ok so the room is fairly basic but functional, but other than that I cannot recommend it highly enough. My wife and I are fairly regular skiers and this was a wonder place to spend our Christmas. The location is spot on. Right by the slopes of La Daille, as in 2 minute walk back and a 4/5 minute walk to the lift with kit on. There is a supermarket, bar and a couple of restaurants right by and the bus stop to the centre of Val about 100m away. Off the slopes when you get back from La Folie Douce there are cakes, biscuits, Soup and bread and Tea and Coffee. The food was.....out of this world! The Head Chef was Stu and he was fantastic. He and his team cannot be praised highly enough. I am quite a picky eater by I mangaged all the canapes and aperatifs, the fantastic starter, the majestic main, the delicious dessert, the cheese and biscuits, and the coffee and mints, every night! The standard of the food is reason enough why my wife and I are hoping to book again for Christmas 2013. All the staff and management made our Christmas ultra special and I believe that was just the type of people that they are. Very professional but very helpful and enjoyable to be around. Val itself is amazing. So many bars restaurants and things to do outside of the world class skiing. I can't think of a reason not to go. Well except for expensive mountain restaurants! Highly recommend this resort, Chalet Hotel and Iglu Ski. You will not be disapointed!

The chalet hotel was in a superb location, just a couple of minutes walk from the major bubble to access pretty much the whole resort from there. The rooms were very basic, a little more basic than we were expecting, especially for the price paid. But the food and location more than made up for that. The food and wine selection was outstanding - although the portions looked small, they were packed with protein every night and I dont think there was a meal that I actually completed fully, there was just so much. Great selection of accompanying vegetables as well for those health conscious. The only real downside of the hotel is the size of the boot room - it is way too small for the number of people who need to use it. And there is no space to put on your boots either. Again, a minor negative, but one that can make a frustrating difference. The chalet staff were all absolutely superb, cannot speak highly enough of them. Thanks for a great stay.
