Overall

I stayed here in March 2010 with my wife and 4 month old daughter. We had a great time, and the chalet staff were the best I have ever come across - extremely friendly, professional and helpful. The Chalet is warm and comfortable and has a nice big communal lounge which is great for watching DVDs on the big screen TV and socialising with other guests with the convenience of the staff-stocked honesty fridge. The food was very good during our stay. The rooms are clean and simply decorated, as is the rest of the chalet. The Pepi penguin creche is situated on site, although our daughter was too young to go in the creche. We did howver, privately arrange 3 hours of baby sitting one night with one of the creche nannies for EUR10 per hour and it was fine. A travel cot, changing mat and bottle steriliser were provided free of charge. Some of the distances in the chalet description are not correct. The bus stop is nearer than specified, it's just across the road. The slopes and town centre are way more than 100m away. If you miss the bus into town and the main ski lift then it's probably a 10 min walk. No hassle at all really as the bus is failry relaible and not crowded,, but don't expect to be able to ski almost back to the chalet. You will have to get the bus or walk to and from town and the main ski lift. Canazei is pretty quiet, although there are a few bars and restaurants. Canazei is linked into the Sella Ronda area which is relly big and has some lovely pistes. The chalet is also conveniently located to get a vus to Pozza di Fassa just up the road, and access to the Val Di Fassa ski area. However, not much point bothering with that as the Sella is way better. Pozza does have a really good steak restaurant - the reps will tell you where it is. Generally speaking, the lift passes specify your sex so cannot be shared between a couple. As our daughter was too young to go into the creche we had to take turns looking after her, so we thought we'd just get one lift pass between myself and my wife. But you can't do that with a standard lift pass. But you can pay a bit more to get a special pass which you can shre. The rep helped us out with that and it saved us quite a bit of money. Whilst the chalet is perfectly nice, I wouldn't go as far as to say it was "very high standard", it's a good chalet, nothing more IMO. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and it is one of the only holidays I've ever been on where I can honestly say there was not a single negative aspect. Everything was good and the staff really went out of their way to be helpful. We were a little apprehensive about taking our 4 month old daughter with us but it was a piece of cake and you can really make this chalet your home for a week. We intend to go back in Feb 2013 - and I hardly ever go back to a ski resort once I've been there and never back to the same property.

Very nice - 22/33/2011
Overall

Went with Crystal in March 2010. It is a nice chalet with a really big communal lounge with loads of comfy seats a big TV (although could only play DVDs on it whilst were there, so maybe take some with you) and an honesty fridge kept stocked up by the staff. Staff were outstanding, really going the extra mile and the chalet was generally nice and warm and comfortable and the food very good. The Crystal resort Creche is inside this chalet on the ground floor. I wouldn't class this as a "very high standard" chalet though. It's good, but nothing special. Also, it's not 100m from the slopes or town. From the Chalet to the main lift is probably a 10 min walk but there is a bus stop near the chalet. You can't ski back to the chalet, only the main lift, so it's a bus ride or walk back again. But bus service is pretty good and not absolutely mobbed like some places I've been to. Canazei is linked directly into the Sella Ronda and you can also access the Val Di Fassa ski area from Pozza which is a short bus ride up the road. But to be honest, with the Sella Ronda available, there's not much point bothering with the Val Di Fassa. Sella Ronda is truly vast and so easy to get around, you spend minimal time on lifts and can really clock up the mileage. Town is generally pretty quiet and not much in the way of nightlife, so not a good destination if you must have wild parties the whole time. But if you want miles and miles of great skiing, reasonable prices and good food then this is the place. Would defo go back.
