Skiing in Andorra
Andorra has changed dramatically over recent years with millions invested to create the modern and vast ski areas that exist today. It has grown considerably in popularity, being the fourth biggest market for British skiers. Andorra used to be known for its ‘cheap and cheerful’ ski holidays, but now with new hotels, upgraded accommodations, improved ski infrastructure and modern snow making facilities, Andorra now offers a higher standard of ski experiences.
It is well-known as a great place to learn to ski because of its excellent ski school facilities and high percentage of native English speaking instructors, a great attraction for families. Andorra also has an energetic après-ski, meaning it’s a popular destination for young adults.
But its tax haven isn’t the only selling point as Andorra is the first area outside of the Alps that offers extensive skiing – over 200km of pistes. The ski resorts are mainly suited to beginners and intermediates with wide slopes above tree line, are easily accessible via fantastic modern lift infrastructure.
Snow conditions in Andorra
Andorra has an excellent snow record; most of the resorts surpass that of some of our favourite French ski resorts, with the majority of its slopes above 1800m.
We would recommend checking the snow conditions before you go although there has also been lots of investment in snow making facilities. In Grandvalira this guarantees snow at more than 60% of the ski area.

If you are after a ski holiday with lively après ski, but don’t want to pay the prices in the likes of French resort such as Val d’Isere, then look no further. There is a great après atmosphere with Soldeu and Pas de la Casa known as the main Andorran resorts for the best après ski.
There are great selections of mountain bars on the slopes, from pop up bars blasting out Balearic tunes to the quick service restaurants where you can pick up a speedy pint and burger and sit out on the terrace before heading back out on the slopes. In resort there are plenty of options for a drink after your day or a venue to dance in to the early hours.
