Situated only 140km from Zürich and on the motorway, just north of the St Gotthard Pass, Andermatt has been overlooked by British skiers. It is a pretty and traditional village with narrow cobbled streets and a jolly atmosphere with plenty of bars and restaurants. The skiing is challenging and fantastic for off piste and ski touring; the Swiss Army train here. It is not recommended for beginners, but should certainly be considered for weekends and longer.
