Being an all year round resort, Grindelwald has plenty of activities, including an excellent sports centre, which is free with a Visitor’s Card. There is also a good variety of nightlife to suit all tastes from quiet and informal cafés to lively bars.
Skiing in Grindelwald, Switzerland
Grindelwald, Switzerland provides extensive skiing and snowboarding to suit all abilities, with half pipe and snow park, and 20 km of dedicated tobogganing runs. The resort links directly into the Wengen ski area at Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen, with Murren also within easy reach on the same lift pass.
There are nursery slopes just above Grindelwald, including the new blue piste at Oberjoch, a ‘slow speed zone’ (Grindelwald). Quick progress will be made with lessons from the excellent English speaking Ski Schools.
The full area Jungfrau ski pass covers 213kms of pistes, providing almost unlimited scope for intermediates on a range of relaxing runs or more testing routes down the Kleine Scheidegg mountain. Highlights include the 8km run from Oberjoch down to Grindelwald and the powder slopes from the Eigergletscher to Wengernalp.
Experts can try the famous Lauberhorn World Cup downhill piste, or the fearsome Black Rock run which starts at the base of the Eiger. If you can cope with any more then there is the famous black, almost vertical ‘Kanonenrohr’ in Murren.
