Ski Holidays in Murren, Switzerland
High up in the Jungfrau ski area Murren Switzerland is one of the most scenic Swiss ski resorts and was the site of the first slalom race in 1922. Murren is a car free, traditional resort set above the valley offering breathtaking views of the Jungfrau range.
Intermediate skiers will love Murren. It can be explored quite quickly but there are plenty of challenges to work oneself up to, including the 16km run down from Schilthorn, which is home to the infamous Inferno race every January. Experienced skiers will also find plenty to challenge them in Murren, including some extensive off piste possibilities, especially down from the Birg (one of the peaks above Murren). The ski resorts of
Wengen and
Grindelwald are also easily reached from Murren.
Although not ideal for beginners, as Murren is slightly lacking in nursery slopes, but other resorts in the Jungfrau ski area more than make up for this.
The revolving restaurant atop the Schilthorn mountain as featured in the 6th James Bond film, "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service" is a must see whilst in Murren, Switzerland.
