Notes from our Igluski Experts

"The Rosset is fantastically positioned in the centre of Tignes Le Lac, so there is not far to walk home after a night at the bars nearby. Being a large chalet, it is especially good for large groups looking for a chalet near the skiing. Based on previous guest experiences, the chalet comes highly recommended."

Chalet Hotel Rosset - Tignes, France

After many seasons offering a range of quality catered chalets in Tignes, we are thrilled to introduce the Rosset - first Chalet Hotel in this prestigious resort! The Chalet Hotel Rosset has a great combination of comfortable accommodation, spacious public areas and an enviable location in the heart of Tignes-le-Lac, with scenic views across the lake. At 2,100m Tignes-le-Lac is the most appealing area for many skiers, with quick lift access to both sides of the valley and only a short bus ride away from Val Claret, with access to the Grande Motte glacier.

Chalet Hotel Rosset is perfectly located to meet every skier’s expectations day and night. It’s centrally situated in Tignes-le-Lac, tucked back from the main road only 100m from the Rosset lift and close to the Marmotton children’s ski area, on the southern side of the resort, for quick access to Val d’Isère. Within only a few minutes’ walk, guests keen to soak up the après-ski atmosphere of the resort can stroll to one of the many lively bars or restaurants at the end of the ski day or after dinner.

Tignes’ excellent sports centre with indoor pool, spa and extensive facilities as well as the outdoor ice skating rink on the lake, are also less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. Ski Area Access Skiers have a huge range of lifts to choose from here, to maximise enjoyment of the huge Espace Killy ski area’s over 300km of pistes. Take the Rosset chairlift to ease you into your day, following the easy blue run from the top down to the Paquis chair to quickly link into the Val d’Isère runs or the Chaudannes chair just a little further on. From the top of here several long reds and blues invite you down to Les Boisses or pretty Les Brevières or link to the lifts of the stunning area around the Aiguille Percée.

Alternatively choose the new 10-person Tovière gondola, only approximately 150m from the hotel, to access the Tovière ridge on the Val d’Isère side of Tignes, or the Palafour chairlift on the opposite side of Tignes’ square to head for the lovely red and blue slopes on the Tignes side, as well as the extensive snow park at the Col du Palet. At the end of the day it’s straightforward to ski back to within 50m of home, or if you’ve ventured up to Val Claret, the regular bus service link will bring you back to Le Lac’s central square.

Comfortable Hotel Facilities Chalet Hotel Rosset has been built in traditional style, with attractive wood and stone features. Its convenient location is matched by the comfortable standard of accommodation and warm ambience within the communal areas. The ground floor is home to the generously sized dining room and breakfast room, where a terrace offers fabulous views across the lake and towards Val Claret.

A selection of good sized rooms, all with en suite shower or bath, includes many with the bonus of a balcony looking over the lake and up towards the famous fingers and peaks at Val Claret. We will be adding a comfy new bar as a welcome addition to the light and airy top floor lounge, with its feature stone chimney, vaulted ceiling and large picture windows. It will be the perfect place for an après ski drink, and later for a pre-dinner apéritif and canapés, whilst soaking up some of the best views in resort.

Meals - Chalet Hotel Rosset, Tignes

For six days of the week the staff prepares all your meals.

Breakfast:
We pride ourselves on giving you a great breakfast to start your day, with a choice of cereals, fresh fruit and juices, yoghurts, plentiful English tea and good filter coffee, bread freshly baked in our chalets each morning (plus croissants in France), cold meats, cheeses and preserves, and boiled eggs.

This is normally presented buffet-style for you to help yourself. And to cap it all, we also cook a hot dish of the day for you six days per week, such as sausage and bacon or pancakes with fresh fruit, individually served.

On the chalet hosts’ day off, they will prepare a Continental style breakfast for you, which will be left for you to help yourselves, and that evening you have the chance to eat out in one of the local cafés or restaurants – our resort team will be happy to provide some suggestions. In our Chalet Hotels, a full buffet breakfast (including hot option) is also served on the staff’s day off.

Piste Picnics:
Our Chalet Hotels can also prepare a packed lunch for you on request, at a small local charge. For skiers keen to keep their Euro-spending to an absolute minimum, this is the ideal way to keep your costs down!

Afternoon Tea:
The traditional 'welcome home' after a day on the slopes will be laid out for you in your chalet or Chalet Hotel, ready for your return, every day except on the staff's one day off per week. A good cup of tea or coffee is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious slice of freshly home-baked cake and keeps hungry skiers happy until dinner is ready. As an added benefit for guests in our Chalet Hotels, our chefs prepare a selection of cakes for afternoon tea.

Children's High Tea:
In Chalets and Chalet Hotels with family guests, High Tea provides children under 13 years with a healthy menu, tailored more towards children's tastes and puréed food is available for infants on request. High Tea is at 5.30pm, and children do not join the main adult-only dinner.

Children's High Tea in Chalet Hotels:
New for 2013/14 Season
- Families staying in one of our Chalet Hotels may choose to eat separately (High Tea at 5:30pm) or all dine together at the later adult dinner time if children who have received a child discount pay the meal upgrade charge of £39 at the time of booking only.

Culinary Choice Dinners in Chalet Hotels:
A special feature of our Chalet Hotels is a more extensive culinary experience for our guests. With the greater kitchen facilities of a hotel, our professional chefs are able to offer choices of menu at dinner, generally including lighter as well as more hearty options, and always a vegetarian choice for each course. Guests will be asked to choose their evening meals at breakfast for that evening from a varied daily selection.

Our Chalet Hotel adult-only dinners offer 5 courses, starting with canapés and an apéritif, followed by an appetiser, main course and dessert, and a cheese selection to round off your meal in style. All this is then followed by coffee with chocolates to complete your evening's repast! Your choice of complimentary quality wines is unlimited during the meal service and freshly chilled water is also of course always available.
