Based in New York in USA, Lake Placid is a skiers and snowboarder East Coast haven. The area boasts beginner, intermediate and expert runs to ensure that riders have a variety of options to choose from.

The snow coverage here is fantastic and there are some incredibly picturesque views to be enjoyed by visitors. For those looking for a relaxing atmosphere, amazing winter weather and excellent customer service, Lake Placid is the ideal destination.

Lake Placid ski resort

The most popular ski area in the resort is Whiteface Mountain, where there is more than 283 acres of skiable terrain, 86 pistes and the biggest vertical drop across the whole of the east coast.

Just a short drive away from Lake Placid, the area is well-regarded for its amazing panoramic mountain scenery, excellent terrain and amazing ski schools. There is even the Whiteface Mountain’s Kids Kampus, where children can enjoy a host of brilliant activities including a magic carpet and a selection of learning tools.

The season at Lake Placid runs from December to April and many of the pistes are covered by snow-making equipment.

With 86 runs it offers a good amount of skiing, most of the terrain is aimed at the Intermediate to Advanced skier and due to the fact that they have snowmaking to cover 98% of the mountain this is as snow sure as you can get.

There are plenty of fantastic bars and restaurants to enjoy on Whiteface Mountain, including the Cloudspin Lounge, which is the perfect place to put your feet up after some time on the slopes.

This stunning location is perfect for picturesque winter walks, spas and relaxing in the calming surroundings of the Adirondack mountain range. Or for the more adventurous there is an endless list of winter activities, try the Olympic bobsled run, go dog sledding, take a snow shoe tour or go ice fishing and catch evening diner.

Lake Placid village is where the true variety of attractions are based, with a fantastic assortment of things to do. For nightlife, Zig Zags on Main Street is one of the top options, while the Lake Placid Pub and Brewery offers some delicious meals with astonishing views of the lake.

Adirondack Regional Airport is the closest departure point from Lake Placid and is situated 16 miles away. New York City is 4.5 hours’ drive away.
