Chalet Bozzetto - Val D'Isere, France
Brand new chalet, Chalet Bozzetto is on the top floor of Val d'Isère's latest résidence. No expense was spared on the building, with its heavy wood panelling and silent lifts. Its location is excellent, on the main road, a short walk from the village centre, with bus stops for both directions just outside. The Funival is one stop away on the free and frequent buses.
Chalet Bozzetto has big sliding windows to wraparound balconies, and magnificent views. Our company photographer lives next door, if at not quite the same level of luxury, and takes our daily photographs of Solaise, Bellevarde and La Daille from his bed!
The spacious open-plan sitting-dining room and kitchen are high and bright, beautifully built from old wood and granite.
The three bedrooms are on the cosy side, as they tend to be in the newest buildings and best positions in Val d'Isère, but beautifully finished and big enough for larger-than-average twin beds, any of which can be fitted together to make six-foot doubles. The master bedroom, next to the dining area, has high ceilings, large sliding windows to the balcony and an en-suite shower-room. Upstairs are two more bedrooms, one on each side of the very smart shower-room and loo.
They are tucked under the eaves, with large Velux windows. The normal problem with rooflights - that light sleepers are woken early as spring approaches - will probably be resolved by about twenty feet of snow.

Chalet Bozzetto, with its superb position and serious degree of comfort, yet reasonable prices because it has just two shower-rooms and two wcs, not three, sells like gâteaux chauds. And why Chalet Bozzetto? Because its owner, Mathieu Bozzetto, won a medal in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
