NEEDS MANAGING PROPERLY BUT GREAT POTENTIAL - 30/03/2015
Overall

The chalet is in a great location, good boot room with locked lockers and large dining area. However, the lockers were marked up with the wrong room numbers. The food was good, but the chef was away for 3 days, so there was a long delay between courses, vegetables were cold and dessert was served about 10pm! Coffee wasn't served to us, but you could help yourself. They didn't serve chocolates as advertised. Downstairs is open plan, so what they need to do is usher guests from the tables to the sofas so they can clear the tables. At 8am the following morning tables were still being cleared from the night before . One morning there was broken glass on the floor in the lounge area which I hoovered away myself. The stereo was available for guests to use, but this meant it was left on extremely loud all night long, and guests were having sleepless nights. There are also live in rooms for other holiday reps who came and went, and it began to feel like it was their holiday and we were in a hostel. An unlocked room downstairs was full of empty bottles and basically ransacked. In future, this chalet needs a Manager a little older than 20 to control both guests and staff - the staff were good fun but seemed to be focused on getting drunk and partying, and not very professional (especially when I heard one say they had some old people with their 16 year olds coming to stay the following week - at 44 I guess I would have also been classed as old). The transfer in was a bit of a shambles - the driver didn't open the doors for us - I put my own bag in the back - and the driver climbed in the front and didn't bother closing the back doors - after we struggled to do it ourselves he finally got out to do it. Towels were not changed throughout the week, and housekeeping was done at 10am every day while we were still in our rooms, so our room wasn't cleaned all week. Good value overall, but with a little improvement this could be great.

I can only assume that this was a 'drive by' rating! Looks new and modern from the outside but don't be deceived! The inside is a 70's throw back, with artex ceilings and vinyl flooring. The bedrooms are tiny, no wardrobes, just some hanging space and shelving - possibly due to no room for wardrobe doors to open! New and modernised tiny bathrooms which were OK if you don't need much space. Reminded me more of a hostel than a chalet. Is in a good location and the chalet staff did their best to make us feel welcome and the food was fine.
