How to use Igluski's RSS Feeds

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) works exactly like a bookmark in your favourites, except it offers automatic updates instead of just being a static link. RSS feeds are completely free, very easy to use and not only save you a significant amount of time, but also make you the very first to be notified of new information. For example, you can get:

  • The latest ski deals for any resort.
  • Automatic updates of the latest snow reports for your choice of ski resort.
  • Ski news notifications as and when articles are posted.

Below are short guides for how to get started in Internet Explorer and Firefox. To get the most out of our RSS feeds, we highly recommend using a browser-based feed reader such as Google Reader or Netvibes. These are also free to use and make organising RSS feeds much easier.

How to use RSS in Internet Explorer

For this example, we will look at how to follow updates for the latest snow reports from Bad Gastein in Austria.

1. Visit our Ski RSS Feeds page and click the + symbol next to Austria to expland the resorts. Then click the orange RSS logo in the Snow Reports column beside Bad Gastein.

2. You will move to a page which asks you whether you would like to subscribe to this RSS feed. Click 'Subscribe to this feed' - don't worry, it's free!

3. You'll then get a pop-up asking where you would like to place your feed. Usually, it's most suitable in the feeds folder, but you can place it wherever you like. Next, click 'Subscribe'.

4. All done! To view it, simple click the 'View my feeds' link, which will open a toolbar to the left of the page.

5. Click on the feed to display the latest information, which appears on the right. You can now easily switch between your feeds and favourites. Easy as pie!

2. You will move to a page which asks you whether you would like to subscribe to this RSS feed. Click 'Subscribe Now' - don't worry, it's free!

3. You'll then get a pop-up asking where you would like to place your feed. Usually, it's most suitable in the bookmarks toolbar, but you can place it wherever you like. Next, click 'Add'.

4. All done! Sit back and watch the updates roll in. If for some reason your toolbar isn't displaying, in the menu at the top of the page go to View > Toolbars and click Bookmarks Toolbar.
