Haus Glacier, Zermatt

If the apres-ski nightlife is as important to your holiday as the white majesty of the piste then Haus Glacier offers the perfect solution. A newly-built luxury apartment in the very centre of Zermatt, its three bedrooms (one double, two twin) sleep six in understated elegance, with designer bathrooms, vast sofas, widescreen DVD television and wireless broadband, as well as east- and west-facing terraces for that sunrise coffee or a relaxing drink as the sun goes down. It may be easy, in such a setting, to forget why you came here but from the tranquillity of the third floor apartment, a lift will take you directly onto Zermatt high street and from there its a mere 300m to the Gornegratbahn, Europes highest open-track mountain railway.

Meals - Haus Glacier, Zermatt

Good food is an essential ingredient of every chalet party. The welcoming glass of bubbly and appetising canapés on your first evening sets the tone for a week of tempting cuisine.

Your day starts with a choice of tea or coffee at your bedside (we can leave it outside the door if you prefer). This is followed by a hearty breakfast, including French bacon, tomatoes and a choice of eggs or, if you prefer, porridge; all served with fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, freshly baked bread, croissants, jams, and a selection of teas and coffee. Once a week your chalet host offers an option of fresh pancakes.

While you are out skiing your host will have laid out afternoon tea for your return – diet-defying cakes, bread, jam, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. First one home puts the kettle on!

Dinner comprises a three-course meal followed by a cheese course, coffee and mints, and all complemented by a selection of extremely palatable French wines. The quality of our wine is of a much superior standard to that which you might have come to expect on a chalet holiday and we have a choice of house reds and whites to accompany your evening meal. In the unlikely event that our house wine proves not to be to your liking then additional choices, including champagne and port, are available from our cellar for a small supplement.
Chalet Hosts- As well as possessing a flair for entertaining and a genuine love of food, our chalet hosts are friendly, unflappable and exceptionally hard working. Having completed a rigorous pre-season training course, each host is encouraged to manage their chalet as if it were their own home. We find this engenders a commitment to your enjoyment and well-being which makes the atmosphere in our chalets quite different.

Please note: The chalet host will have a day off during the course of the week, during which you will be required to eat out.
